Mind over Mountains

We are absolutely delighted to invite Scouts, Explorers, Young Leaders and Adult leaders from across Mersey Weaver to a inspirational talk with record-breaking adventurer, ultra-endurance athlete, international motivational speaker, author and mental health activist Alex Staniforth who originally comes from nearby Chester.

Alex will be sharing experiences of some of his adventures, challenges and the importance of the outdoors on mental health.

Alex has suffered with a mild form of epilepsy , a lifelong stammer as well as various mental health challenges including bulimia – all barriers he has had to overcome prior to discovering the outdoors and two attempts on Mount Everest.

No stranger to adversity, Alex experienced the two biggest consecutive disasters in Mount Everest history, including the 2015 Nepal earthquake which trapped him on the mountain for two days. In July 2017 he became the fastest person ever to climb all 100 UK county tops.  In 2018, he co-founded Mind Over Mountains, a mental health charity to help others restore mental well-being naturally through outdoor experiences.

The session can only have a maximum of 100 Explorers from the section so please book early.

N.B. a parent must be in the vicinity during the session.
