N.B the Campfire Circle must be booked alongside either Camping, The Hideaway, The Bothy, Laavu, Evening Visitor or Day Visitor.

Outdoor Kitchen & Secondary Campfire Circle
🔥 The Campfire Kitchen – Cook, Eat & Make Memories
Ready to take your camp cooking to the next level? Queen Charlotte’s Wood has its very own outdoor kitchen and campfire circle, located close to Badger’s Rake and The Pines, where groups can gather, cook up a feast and enjoy food the way it was meant to be enjoyed — outdoors!
Renovated in 2022, this special campfire area was created in memory of our late campsite manager, April Nicholas, and provides a fantastic space for groups to come together.
With seating for at least 24 people around the campfire, there’s plenty of room to gather around, share stories and enjoy a meal under the stars.
N.B the Campfire Circle must be booked alongside either Camping, The Hideaway, The Bothy, Laavu, Evening Visitor or Day Visitor.
Ready to book? Simply select the campfire facility as part of your booking. Once your booking and associated products have been submitted, our Bookings Team will review and confirm your booking.

🔥 Important: Pizza Oven & Campfire Kitchen
Please note that the pizza oven requires specific types of wood to operate safely and effectively. You must only use hardwood with a moisture content of less than 20%.
Before using the oven, please ensure you read and follow the operating manual and instructions provided.
We also ask that you leave the outdoor kitchen and campfire circle clean, tidy and immaculate after use, ready for the next group to enjoy.

Doing you Digital Maker or Citizen Badge? Maybe you just want to mend that broken tent pole you can’t buy a replacement part for. The District own a 3D printer which Groups and Explorer Units are welcome to borrow.
Note: Your booking period must include day you want to pickup through to the day it is going to be returned

Self-Led Air Rifle Shooting Session at Queen Charlotte’s Wood (Range, Target Holders & Air Rifles provided)
The indicative cost above is for a 2 hour session with 6 air rifles provided. The actual cost of you booking will be shown below once you have chosen, the number of air rifles required and your chosen your session duration.
The booking includes the range , springer air rifles (Gamo Delta Fox Break Barrel, 0.177, 6 ftlb).
When selecting start and fish times please ensure you include time to collect and return air rifles to our District Scout Centre; as well as setup, tidy and close up the range.
You must provide your own NRSA qualified Range Control Officer to manage the safe operation of the range and adequate ratio of NRSA qualified Air Rifle YPS Tutors/Instructors to participants for instruction. All those managing and helping to deliver the session must read and copy with the Mersey Weaver Range Operating procedures and Instructions (See Safety documents section below).
If you require 0.177 pellets and/or paper targets these must be added to your order.

Self-Led Crossbow Session at Queen Charlotte’s Wood (Range, Target Holders & Crossbows provided)
The indicative cost above is for a 2 hour booking with 6 crossbows provided. The actual cost of you booking will be shown below once you have chosen, the number of air rifles required and your chosen your session duration.
The booking includes the range , target bosses and EK Archery Jaguar 1 recurve crossbows fitted with Red/Green Dot sights and 40lbs limb, quivers each with 3 bolts.
When selecting start and finishing times please ensure you include time to setup, tidy and close up the range (allow 45 mins on top of the recommend session time for number of particpants).
You must provide your own NRSA qualified Range Control Officer to manage the safe operation of the range and adequate ratio of NRSA qualified Crossbow YPS Tutors/Instructors to participants for instruction. All those managing and helping to deliver the session must read and copy with the Mersey Weaver Range Operating procedures and Instructions (See Safety documents section below). For self-led session the hirer is responsible for preparing the activity risk assessment and having it signed off before the session starts.
If you require target faces these must be added to your order.

Fun crossbow set
Fun crossbows fire sucker darts. You can use them for a whole range of fun activities: lots of people enjoy team games (a bit like a low-tech version of paintballing or laser tag), but you could also try target shooting to hone your accuracy.
Everyone in Scouts can get stuck in – there aren’t age limits here. They also work in all sorts of locations: indoors, outdoors, and even in specially-designed arenas. These fun crossbows are so adaptable, so you can design an activity that suits your group perfectly.
The indicative cost displayed above is based on 4 fun crossbow sets for a 2 hour hire period. Actual cost will be displayed once you have chosen number of fun crossbows to be hired along with start and end time for the hire period. Minimum hire period is 2 hours per booked session which can be extended in 30 minute increments. With space for up to 8 climbers and their belayers, it’s the perfect place to climb, practise and challenge yourself.

Crate Stacking at QCW (Self Led)
We have 30+ heavy duty plastic crates that can be used for crate stacking/climbing. Please note this is a hire of equipment only and the activity is self led. You will require your own instructor who is competent enough to confidently both set this activity up and run it. Crate Stacking/Climbing is classified as a High Ropes activity and you must follow the relevant factsheet from The Scouts.
The crates can be hired and used for a crate stacking activity with:
- Our Mobile Climbing Wall (provided you have an artificial top rope climbing permit or higher) or;
- Our Mobile Climbing wall while at Queen Charlotte’s Wood (provided you have an artificial top rope climbing permit or higher) or;
- As a temporary High Ropes activity at Queen Charlotte’s Wood on the Three Oaks campsite (provided you have a natural top rope climbing permit or higher).
If hiring for Crate Stacking at QCW, the crates come with the following equipment:
- 1 x Blue Lyon Climbing Ballast Bag, 1 x DMM sling and 1x DMM Shadow HMS Screwgate Carabiner for securing the belayer
- 1 x Blue Petzl GRI GRI belay device and 1 x DMM Belay Master Carabiner for the belayer
- 3 x Blue Edelweiss 30m Climbing ropes
- 1 x Petzl Vertical Wire Lock Carabiner for clipping onto crates
- 2 x Blue Climbing Technology Galaxy Helmets
- 1 x DMM Alpine Centre Threadback Harness for the belayer
- 1 x Singing Rock Body Harness for the climber
- 2 x DMM Chest Sidelock Harnesses with 2 x Bridge Slings and 2 x Green Mammut Carabiners for use with waist harnesses
- Additional Climbing Harnesses and Helmets. Please note that these are shared with the climbing wall.
- A maximum of 12 x DMM Centre Sidelock Harnesses
- A maximum of 12 x Petzl White Boreo / Teal Borea Helmets
Please ensure that your selected start and end times for the session, includes time to setup, takedown and return equipment to its designated storage location(s).
N.B. To use the crates at Queen Charlotte’s Wood, you must also be booked in as a Day Visitor, Evening Visitor, Camping or for The Hideaway

DSC Indoor Shooting Range (Range only)
6yd, 10yd or 10m indoor shooting range which is inside of the main hall of the District Scout Centre. Can accommodate up to a maximum of 12 shooting at a time.
Minimum hire period 1 hour 30 mins, thereafter in 15 min blocks. Remember to allow sufficient time in your booking for setting up and clearing away.
User provides their own paper targets and equipment. Access to the range starts at your chosen start time and you must cleared up and left the range by the end of your chosen end time. Therefore allow for setup and clear up time when choosing your booking start and end time.

Mobile Air Rifle/Pistol Range
Mersey Weaver have Mobile range that can be transported to a suitable venue.
We have available a number of NRSA qualified Instructors who can be booked, in advance, should you not have your own NRSA Instructor. Currently, they are only available by prior arrangement on evenings or weekends. One instructor is required for every 6 shooting; however, this ratio may be adjusted depending on the age of the shooters as Cubs may need a higher ratio of supervision on the range.

Why not give Rock Climbing a go? We own a 9 metre high mobile climbing wall that can accommodate up to five climbers at any one time. Included in the hire are enough harnesses, helmets, ropes and carabiners for 20 people so the whole section can have a go..
The climbing wall comes as a dry hire and you will need to arrange your own instructor(s). We recommend using the permit holder search functionality in the Scout Membership System to find and contact permit holders.
