Each iPad is available with an optional Apple Pencil for annotating, drawing and has cellular connectivity if you don’t have an internet connection in or outside the meeting place (Paid for on the iPad separately)

The Devices are remotely managed and come with tools so leaders can lock young people in/out of certain apps and monitor what they are doing using the Classroom App

Description

Our new national plan to prepare young people with skills for life has begun. Part of that plan is about encouraging young people to develop their digital skills in a responsible, fun and safe way. Having these skills are key to preparing them for a brighter future.

The association sees digital as such an important part of the programme, that it has dedicated not one but two staged badges to the topic. The Digital Maker series of badges gives young people the opportunity to develop their digital skills through a hands-on approach, from learning about coding to making robots. The Digital Citizen series of badges encourages young people to develop their digital skills and research expertise, whilst learning how to stay safe online.

However, many groups lack the necessary equipment or funds to provide their own equipment relying on young people to bring their own. In the recent survey the District Team conducted, one views expressed by a number of leaders was the need for the provision of some tablet computers or laptops to complete the badges on as well as aid in other aspects of the programme.
