About Us

Mersey Weaver is a Scout District in Cheshire that is the result of the merger of North West Cheshire and Widnes Districts. We are one of the larger District’s in Cheshire catering for young people between the ages of 6 and 25 with a total membership of around 1,412 (and growing).

Scouting in the UK provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for half a million young people (including 60,000 girls). Internationally over 28 million young people and 4 million adult volunteers enjoy the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries.

Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

Mersey Weaver Adventures

In 2017 we launched our very own bookings website. The site’s primary function is to ensure affordable Scouting for our parents & groups and make Scouting easier for our leaders by providing a simple way to book accommodation, equipment and events. We are constantly investing in new resources for our groups to enable them to put on ever more interesting activities, programmes and very best personal development opportunities. Our aim is to acquire equipment that would otherwise be unaffordable or unsustainable for individual groups to manage themselves like our climbing wall, minibuses etc. We charge a minimal fee to cover wear/tear and eventually replace the equipment so that it can be enjoyed  by young people for generations to come.

All income from bookings benefit Scouting locally and are reinvested into our Adventure Centres and maintenance of our equipment. We charge minimal fees to our groups offering both affordability and a sustainable model to ensure as a charity with an otherwise paltry income, that we can cover our costs. Generally our events and camps cover their costs or are subsidised and we are confident parents won’t find anything cheaper outside of the movement.

Parents and Non-Mersey Weaver District Leaders

As well as parents we welcome leaders from outside of our own District! Scouting is a global movement and we believe in helping others out where we can!
