Cub’s Reach the Summit 2023

We are offering Cubs an incredible opportunity to get into the great outdoors and climb to the highest point in Cheshire (Shining Tor –  559m). They will learn basic navigation and make friends other Cubs from across the Mersey Weaver. We’ll explore some fun places along the way, including the abandoned Errwood hall and the mysterious Hobbit Church. Our aim is that at the end of the event, each Cub will have had rewarding day on the Mountains having earned a Hikes Away plus Navigator Stage 1 and 2 badges.

Who can participate

Any Cub from Mersey Weaver can attend this event but please note we have a limited places due to Scout rules that dictate adult to young person ratios and size of groups when taking groups out in the hills. Please book quickly to avoid disappointment. We recommend a reasonable level of fitness to participate but we will do our best to accommodate everyone of all abilities. Please speak to your leader or get in touch if you have any concerns.

This is event is being jointly led by members of Mersey Weaver’s Hillwalking and Trekking Team and Cheshire’s Mountaineering Team and there is no requirement for a leader from your group to attend. However, for a limited number of leaders that would like to, we have four places available so they can accompany their Cubs or gain some experience in the hills for themselves. Where possible, we will group Cubs from the same Pack into the same parties that walk up the Mountain together.

If you are a parent booking your young person on, please ensure you have let your Cub Leader know you are attending the event.
