Looking for a quite and secluded place to camp? Queen Charlotte’s Wood has 11 distinct and beautiful pitches to choose from. Located between the quiet backroads of Frodsham and Alvanley and not far from the Sandstone Trail, it is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Three Oaks
This small pitch is the highest of them all (and gives the best mobile phone signal too!) As the name suggests there are three grand Oak Trees that act as focal point and some concrete slabs for backwoods cooking. This pitch also has the best access from the carpark.
Mersey View
This pitch is just behind the Hideaway and has a great view of the Mersey Estuary. There is a standpipe conveniently situated on the north boundary, where there is also a great wooded area suitable for hide and seek!
The Larches
The second smallest pitch on the campsite, the larches are just next door to the Hideaway and Main Campfire circle. If you have a large group it’s just next door to High Bank so makes an excellent leaders only pitch!
High Bank
High Bank is one of the larger pitches on site, and is locates behind the Bothy. Surrounding this pitch is plenty of trees (if you want to bring a hammock) as well as open space for activities.
Rowen Bridge
This small pitch is separated from Fox Hollow by a hedge row so useful site if you want to separate your group up a little. The site isn’t used all too often but is right next door to the pioneer store, so useful if you want to do shelter building. There are also concrete slabs for backwoods cooking.
Fox Hollow
This small site is next to the Chapel and as mentioned above separated from Rowen bridge by a hedgerow.
The Dell
The Dell is located opposite the archery range and split across two levels. It is situated nearest to the wildest part of the site where groups like to build dens and bivouacs.
The Birches
Our largest campsite, it is long and thin and a nice site to use if you are camping with multiple sections.
The Pines
One of our larger pitches on site, The Pines has the luxury of its very own campsite circle and joins on to the main playing field.
The Alders
Our smallest pitch, it is easily accessible from the carpark by a set of steps. Great for small expeditions or as a catering area for large groups staying on the Pines.
Badgers Rake
This pitch joins onto the campfire circle situated on the Pines. It is nicely fenced off and is furtherest away from where most people camp or roam around so tends to be the quietest place to camp if you sleep lightly!
