Queen Charlotte’s Wood – Working party

With restrictions easing, we are looking for help with getting Queen Charlotte’s Wood in tip top condition ready for a busy year ahead. We are looking for 30 adult volunteers to come and help with the following:

  • Tree tagging
  • Tree planting
  • Step replacement
  • Fencing
  • Jet Washing
  • Painting
  • Hedge Cutting
  • Installation of more hand sanitising stations
  • Preparation for new campfire circle
  • Preparation for pond construction
  • General tidy up of site

We would appreciate any help groups can give with the above especially those who have benefitted from the free use of the site.

Under the current government restrictions we are strictly limited to 30 people outdoors therefore you must RSVP below to say you are coming and must not turn up on the day.

COVID precautions

While restrictions are easing we still take the safety of all our volunteers very seriously and the following arrangements will be in place

  • A risk assessment has been conducted and approved
  • We will be ensuring strict physical 2m distancing
  • There is a one way system in operation in the car park. People must enter via the top gate (at the top of the ridgeway) and exit via the bottom gate (what would normally be the main entrance).
  • There will be mandatory Hand Sanitising on arrival, departure and during maintain
  • Group will be split into smaller working parties.
  • Cleaning protocols for equipment and toilets will be in place
  • Sharing transport is discouraged. If using taxi’s/public transport, please wear a face covering and ensure good hand hygiene.
  • Contact details captured during booking process will be retained for at least 21 days to aid with track and trace if required by Public Health England.

Volunteers must not attend if:

  • They have been in contact with any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID- 19 in the last 14 days.
  • Been instructed to isolate by UK government Covid-19 tracing service
  • Have signs of a fever or elevated temperature.
  • Have a new or persistent cough.
  • Experiencing any new respiratory issues.
  • Experienced a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell.
  • Are required to quarantine after returning from abroad.

What to wear/bring with you

  • Face covering
  • Appropriate outdoor clothing
  • Strong shoes/boots
  • Gardening Gloves
  • Packed lunch
  • Mug
