First Response Course (Theory and Practical)

Who is the course for
This course is suitable for everyone but has been designed to primarily help Volunteers in Section Teams and Programme Delivery Roles to complete the requirements of Scout’s First Response Certificate. It will include both theoretical and practical elements of the training module.
Initially places are prioritised to volunteers from Mersey Weaver but after 18 March we will open up places for other volunteers from elsewhere in Cheshire. Please book on by 11 April.
Syllabus includes
- Principles of first aid and initial response (arriving and managing an incident)
- Initial response to a first aid situation
- Management of an unconscious casualty (child or adult)
- CPR, including technique for children and an explanation of what AED is and how to use it
- Choking
- Shock
- Bleeding
- Fractures (ambulance imminent and non-imminent) and sprains
- Head injuries
- Dental incidents
- Burns
- Asthma
- Anaphylaxis
- Heart Attack
- Stroke
- Seizures
- Diabetes
- Sepsis / Meningitis
Upon successful completion of the qualification assessment, Learners will be awarded a First Response Certificate. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement.
The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
Participants
A maximum of 12 volunteers can be accommodated on this course. If you cannot attend anymore please let us know as soon as possible as places are extremely limited and in high demand.
