    Looking for a quiet, peaceful place to camp and reconnect with the outdoors?

    Nestled between the quiet country lanes of Frodsham and Alvanley, and just a short distance from the stunning Sandstone Trail, Queen Charlotte’s Wood is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

    With 11 distinct and beautiful camping pitches in nine acres of undulated woodland to choose from, there’s a spot to suit every type of adventure. From secluded woodland corners to larger pitches perfect for group activities, you can find your own little piece of the Wood to call home for your stay.

    We can accommodate around 180 campers at any one time, carefully balancing capacity with the need to preserve the unique atmosphere, character and ‘magic’ of Queen Charlotte’s Wood.

    Whether you’re planning a weekend adventure, a group camp, a section sleepover or simply a chance to get outdoors, pitch your tent, light the campfire and make yourself at home.

    🏕️ Booking Your Pitch

    • Not sure of your exact numbers? No problem! Simply provide an approximate number when booking. You can update your numbers closer to your visit using our Camper Update Form.
    • Deposits are non-refundable.
    • We can accommodate up to 5 groups of 36 people on site at any one time. If your group is larger than 36 people, please make more than one booking so that you can be allocated multiple zones.
    • Pitch allocation is subject to availability. Our site team regularly checks each pitch, and pitches may be temporarily removed from use if maintenance is required or ground conditions are unsuitable.
    • Membership discounts are automatically applied in the basket, provided the correct membership profile has been selected.

    🔥 Try Something a Little Different – The Lavvu

    Fancy swapping your tent for something a little more adventurous? Why not spend the night in our Finnish-style Lavvu?

    A Lavvu is a traditional shelter used by the Sámi people of northern Scandinavia, designed to provide a simple and practical place to stay while exploring the outdoors.

    Our Lavvu offers a unique camping experience and can comfortably accommodate up to 5–6 Scouts. Best of all, there’s no need to pack the tent!

    All you need to bring is your sleeping bag, an insulating mat and a pan, and you’re ready for a night under canvas in a very different way.

    Constructed in June 2019, the Lavvu was created in recognition of the dedicated service of former campsite manager Ian Nicholas.

    Leave the tent at home, embrace the adventure and experience camping the Lavvu way! 🏕️🔥

  • The Bothy

    The Bothy

    🌲 The Bothy – Your Base for the Day

    Looking for a comfortable space to plan activities, organise your group or simply take a break from the outdoors? The Bothy is a spacious wooden summer house, providing the perfect base or office for leaders during your stay at Queen Charlotte’s Wood.

    The Bothy is equipped with electricity and heating, as well as a microwave, kettle and hot water boiler. There is also a cold-water standpipe conveniently located just outside.

    For simple meals and refreshments, a selection of basic crockery is provided. The building also has Wi-Fi and a USB-A mobile phone charging point, making it an ideal spot for leaders to stay connected and organise activities throughout their visit.

    N.B The Bothy must be booked alongside either CampingThe HideawayThe BothyLaavu, Evening Visitor  or Day Visitor.

    🏕️ Perfect for Leaders

    Whether you’re preparing for the day’s activities, catching up on admin, charging a phone or simply enjoying a well-earned cuppa, The Bothy gives leaders a comfortable and practical space to work from.

    Please note: The Bothy is not suitable for use as sleeping accommodation.

    📦 Activity Equipment

    The Bothy is also used to store activity equipment. As a result, other groups staying on site may occasionally be given temporary access to the building to collect or return equipment.

    We appreciate your understanding and ask that the building remains accessible when equipment needs to be retrieved.

  • The Gallery Activity Area

    The Gallery Activity Area

    The Gallery has a grassed Geogrid surface providing a flat surface which can be used in most weathers, 36m2 covered hardstanding area with light, power and gated access point.  Suitable for outdoor activities, meetings or just when you want an enclosed area to use!

    It can also be used as an outdoor cinema/disco area when booked in conjunction with our 185 inch mobile screen and active PA speakers.
